Caritas Alba Iulia is gathering funds for Ukrainian refugees

The organization Caritas Alba Iulia is planning to ensure long-term aid for when the refugee situation will settle and especially after the war, when Ukraine will need massive humanitarian aid. In this regard, Caritas has opened an account, where anyone can donate money. The money will be used to purchase only necessary items requested by partners across the border. The director of the Department of Health and Social Care of Caritas Alba Iulia Péter György has said that this fundraising campaign is permanent, and a fund gathering will also be organized by Catholic churches.

„We are preparing, so we have launched a fundraiser. We have talked to Caritas partner organizations in Ukraine and we are raising money so that when we will be able to go to Ukraine, we can come with aid. We already have some items, things they need, and this week we will gather other goods that are to be transported to Ukraine. For now, refugees do not come to stay in Romania, they are only in transit, but when the time comes, a greater involvement will be needed. At the moment, organizations at the border are managing to cope.” Caritas also offers accommodation for Ukrainian refugees in its own buildings in Harghita County, which are located in Miercurea Ciuc, Lunca de Sus and Baile Harghita
