A builder from Turkey won the tender for the design and execution of the Metro Line in Cluj Napoca

A builder from Turkey (who also worked on the metro in Dubai), associated with two domestic companies, won the tender for the design and execution of the Cluj Napoca Metro Line – the largest transport infrastructure contract in Romania. The builder calculated the cost of building the 21-kilometer line with 19 stations at 9 billion lei. From this amount, 1.5 billion lei funding is provided by PNRR, intended for the works on the structure of the first nine stations. The contract is a turnkey type (works at stations, tunnels, installations and the supply of Driverless subway frames, i.e. without a train driver). The duration of design and execution is 8 years, and the contract can only be signed if no objections are filed within 10 days, notes the editor of RRA, Alexandru Lancuzov. In October 2022, two builders from Turkey submitted bids to the auction launched by Cluj Napoca City Hall.

Romanians’ interest in home insurance has increased

Romanians’ interest in home insurance has increased significantly, as a result of recent seismic events, according to an analysis of the National Union of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies in Romania. In the last three weeks there has been an average increase of 170% in the number of policy offers compared to the same period last year, but it remains to be seen how many of these offers will materialize in the next period into insurance policies. At the beginning of this year, approximately 7.8 million homes out of the approximately 9.6 million existing nationwide were not protected by mandatory insurance, which means that only 20% had such a policy, which also covers the risk earthquake, one of the main risks identified by Romanians in relation to their homes. Only 17% of homes also benefit from optional insurance, which can only be concluded for homes that are already protected by a mandatory policy./aboboc
