Romanian PM expected to attend a meeting of Sanitas Federation’s National Council
Romania’s Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu is expected to attend a meeting of the Sanitas Federation’s National Council, according to a statement issued on Romanian government’s official website, following changes in PM’s agenda of the day. Sanitas trade unionists are circulating a paper expected to decide an upcoming general strike in Romania’s healthcare system. A decision on the matter is scheduled on Thursday, when talks between trade unionists are expected to end. The Romanian government has approved recently some 7,600 jobs in an attempt to end a growing crisis in recent weeks.
Appeal issued by Romania’s USR
Romania’s opposition center-right Save Romania Party (USR) has called on the country’s ombudsman to notify the Constitutional Court on an emergency order concernig a 10 percent tax on medical leaves as a contribution to social health insurance. USR MP Cristian Seidler claimed the decision was unconstitutional. “We call on Romania’s ombudsman to do her job. She seemed to forget the reasons of her assignment while the proposal of 10% contribution is absurd. On the same logic, we can expect a 25% tax on pensions”, Mr. Seidler said as quoted by RADOR. Expected layoffs in Romania’s Agriculture Ministry
Romania’s Agriculture Minister Florin Barbu is expected to dismiss chiefs of his ministry’s agencies. He claimed that a control body was expected to open some checks in such agencies. “I will personally check in order to see if farmers were taking to the streets for good reasons. I will personally dismiss any chief for any wrongdoing. An agreement was reached between the Agriculture Ministry and delagates of major agricultural organisations on Monday, addressing several demands by farmers who have been protesting for more than six days.
