Each year, Romania becomes more and more attractive for foreign workers
Each year, Romania becomes more and more attractive for foreign workers. Still, some of them try to illegally cross the border to other countries in Western Europe. In Arad district, the phenomenon generates a series of issues, both for authorities and for employers.
According to the chief of the Immigration Service in Arad, Police chief-commissioner Ciprian Blidar, approximately one in five foreigners who come to work in Romania from Afro-Asian countries try to illegally cross the border to other EU member state.
The phenomenon of illegal immigration is not a problem only for the authorities, but also for employers, because losing workers affects the functioning and competitivity of business. More than that, there are legal implications for the companies that hire foreigners, as they are supposed to announce competent authorities and respect imposed rules and procedures.
