National medical first in Oradea: a bone transplant was performed

A national medical first took place at a private hospital in Oradea. A bone transplant from a donor through the bone tissue bank was performed and an aggressive tumor in the femur was successfully removed. The patient is a 31-year-old woman from Mediaș, who suffered from bone sarcoma, an extremely rare condition.
The coordinator of the medical team, Dr. Adyb Adrian Khal: In the case of our patient, we had to deal with a particular situation, given by an aggressive benign tumor formation, which endangered her life in the last years, since childhood, so that a normal life it was no longer possible for her. We had a whole bone taken from a donor that was cryopreserved and kept in the bone bank until it was used, which we sculpted and implanted in place of the diseased femur so that we could rebuild his skeleton so that to become anatomically and bio-mechanically perfect.

The intra-hospital telemedicine system will be rebuilt

The intra-hospital telemedicine system will be restored, after the emergency units interconnected through it suffered. The application is old and no longer worked because the maintenance work was not done on time, said yesterday, in Târgu Mureș, the head of the Department for Emergency Situations, Dr. Raed Arafat.
Raed Arafat: We had a very big problem with the system that existed between more than 100 emergency reception units that completely collapsed due to lack of maintenance, that the necessary funds were not allocated at the time when they should have been and the system became obsolete anyway, since 2009. Now, after a program created in 2012, to improve the system, it has now been possible to finish the tender at the Ministry of Health and a new telemedicine structure is being implemented.
Raed Arafat also announced that the purchases of ambulances with modern equipment for SMURD and the county emergency services are also underway. The clarifications were made in the context in which NATO began evaluating, training and equipping civilian medical personnel to Alliance standards. Romania is the first country in which this assessment is carried out, first in Târgu Mureș, then in Neamț county.
