Ukrainian President thanks Romania for delivering its Patriot system

“An attack launched by Russian forces in the Black Sea Odessa region bordering both Ukraine and Romania in the Black Sea damaged a ferry in Orlivka. The russian army hit Ukraine with Shahed drones”, Ukrainain President Volodimir Zelensky said in his video-message late on Wednesday. “The strikes were focused on the Odessa region, in Ismail district, very close to the border with Romania. I thank any state that really helps us in our air defence. I especially thank Romania for delivering its Patriot system. We are becoming more effective in order to put an end to Russian terror by jointly shooting down the Shahed drones”, President Zelenski said in a message on Ukrainian Presidency website.

Rains are coming back in most of Romania

Rains are coming back in most of Romania, meteorologists warned on Thursday while further rains are expected until Monday. Weather instability will mark Romania’s western counties of Banat, Crișana and Maramureș, and further in central provinces of Transylvania, southern Oltenia and north-west of Muntenia. Rough winds are also expected in most regions, especially in the west, south-west and east of the country. Adverse weather is forecast across Romania through at least October 6 with heavy rainfall and thunderstorms over the coming days. Heavy downpours may trigger flooding in low-lying areas and strong winds may cause property damage and power outages.

Police raids in  Romania’s southern Țăndărei

Romanian police, gendarmerie and public order officers on Thursday raided the town of Țăndărei, in southern county of Ialomița. Searches were reported in 23 homes, according to sources of the County Police Inspectorate. Dozens of suspects are subject to hearings, some of them with European arrest warrants. The criminal cases involve disturbance of public order, and non-compliance with the country’s weapon and ammunition regime.
