Explosion reported in Romania’s eastern city of Brăila
An explosion in an apartment building in Romania’s eastern town of Brăila on Monday affected 14 apartments nearby, two neighbouring staircases, a kindergarten, and seven cars in the area. The owner of the apartment suffered injuries while a woman was under a panic attack. The incident is still under investigation, according to Radio Romana. A man of 71 is in hospital while 50 people were evacuated. The explosion was reported at 2 AM at the first floor of the building. The incident was caught on a security camera as footage could be crucial evidence in the incident.
Romanian PM met US Ambassador to Romania
Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu met Kathleen Kavalec, the US Ambassador to Romania, on Tuesday. Talks included issues concerning new ways of securing a stronger relationship between the two countries mainly involving the economic sector. Other issues during the talks involved the importance of trade and investments at a time when the US tops four among the foreign investors in the country. Security in the Black Sea region was also on the top of the talks, Radio Romania reported. Romania is one of the most consistently pro-American nations in Europe and in the world.
RRA manager Dan Preda awarded at 2024 UZPR gala
A gala of the Union of Professional Journalists in Romania on Monday awarded Dan Preda, manager of RRA (Radio Romania Actualități), as best press manager in the field. Other winners included ProTV’s Alex Dima in the press campaign category, TVR’s Adelin Petrișor in the war reporting category, and Liviu Tofan as author in ‚Books about Journalist Profession’ category.
