Romanian soldiers report a successful new mission concluded in Afghanistan
Romanian soldiers are back home again after a 6-month presence in the theater of operations in Afghanistan, reporting „mission accomplished”. „Institutional Advisory Team Army” team provided advice for the military education institutions in Kabul, including Marshal Fahim National Defense University. Despite different cultures, the adaptability to the level of Romanian soldiers’ training and experience had a major role in the collaboration with Afghan soldiers – stressed the team leader, Major Olimpiu Golea. The other team, International Military Police Detachment, was deployed in Bagram, one of the largest NATO base in Afghanistan, where it executed missions for the prevention and investigation of criminal activities. Romania has currently 600 troops in Afghanistan operating under the NATO-led Resolute Support Mission. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

Bulgarian carriers are threatening to organize a new counter blockade on all border crossings with Greece, if Greek protesters will not end their own blockade until Monday. In recent weeks, Greek farmers have intermittently blocked roads to Bulgaria and motorways in Greece, in protest against tripling the taxpayer contribution to the pension system over the next four years. Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises drivers who want to transit through Greece to review every travel route, because the situation is permanently changing. Ministry of Culture Vlad Alexandrescu signed the first cultural agreement between Romania and the Holy See
Romanian Ministry of Culture Vlad Alexandrescu signed at Vatican the first cultural agreement between Romania and the Holy See. „This is the first official document signed by the two countries”, said Vlad Alexandrescu. „Beyond that, a great will to do things together, to exchange cultural events, an important future Romanian presence in Rome, where I remind you that we have an extremely important Romanian community. Generally, over one million Romanians work and live in Italy and it is very important to show that these Romanian have a history, a culture they come from, noble, which legitimizes and recommends them in their host country”. During his visit in Vatican, Vlad Alexandrescu attended the general audience of Pope Francis and held talks with the Director of the Vatican Museums and with the Librarian of the Holy Roman Church.
