Romanian President Klaus Iohannis visits Israel
Romanian President Klaus Iohannis is in Jerusalem for a state visit to Israel, aimed to improve bilateral relations. On Monday morning, the Romanian head of state will be received by his counterpart, President of Israel Reuven Rivlin at the presidential residence in Jerusalem in a formal ceremony. The two heads of states will hold a joint press conference and will have talks with members of the two delegations, during which topics of bilateral interest and issues relating to strengthening of the Romanian-Israeli relations will be addressed. During the visit, President Iohannis will meet with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, followed by press statements and a luncheon given in honor of the Romanian president. „I will have discussions, I think, very good, which are aimed to improve the relationship between Romania and Israel”, said Klaus Iohannis. „There are many areas where we have good cooperation, where we have common approaches”. In the second part of the day, President Klaus Iohannis and his wife, Carmen Iohannis, will meet with the Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem, Theophilos III and will visit together the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Klaus Johannis will also go to the Palestinian territories for official talks with President Mahmoud Abbas. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
New regulations on drug prices
Pharmaceutical industry manufacturers claim that the new regulations on drug prices will have a negative impact on patients. They claim that treatments for heart diseases, neurological, endocrine and oncological will be affected especially. A new discussion on this topic is organized this morning by the Romanian Association of International Drug Manufacturers. The guests will analyze the impact of the methodology for calculating the price of medicines, solutions for its review and will discuss about the underfunding of the health system. The number of asylum applications decreased in Romania last year
The number of asylum applications decreased in Romania last year, despite migrant related problems facing European countries. According to EUROSTAT, in 2015 the number of asylum applications exceeded 1,2 million in the European Union, more than double than the 500,000 applicants in 2014. In the same period, almost 1,300 people sought asylum in Romania, less than 0.1% of all requests at European level and down from the 1,500 applications submitted in 2014. Last year, most asylum seekers in Romania were Syrians, 500, followed by Iraqis, nearly 200, and Afghans, fewer than 100. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
