Agerpres celebrates 127th anniversary
The National News Agency Agerpres celebrated yesterday 127th anniversary. Established in 1889, on an initiative of then-Foreign Affairs Minister P.P. Carp, the institution has been named over the time the Telegraphic Agency of Romania, Orient-Radio – RADOR Romanian Telegraphic Agency, Agerpres or Rompres. The National News Agency was responsible to the Foreign Affairs Ministry and its duty was to report news about Romania for abroad and to receive and report from abroad „an exact and fast service of all pieces of news of a general or special interest to Romania”. Starting 2008, the National News Agency turned into Agerpres.(RADIO ROMANIA reports)

Cluj became the second economic center of Romania, after Bucharest. In first place among city development engines is the IT industry. Cluj is also one of the most important centers of industrial production and some foreign companies have experienced growth rates, which have not experienced in other parts of Europe in recent years, says Brandon Milke, the manager of an IT company with American and British capital. „We doubled the number of employees working in different teams in Cluj”, said Brandon Milke. „We are very excited about the talent that we discovered here, about their intelligence, education, passion and we are planning a growth in the coming years and to double again the number that we can count here. Four great Romanian actors were honored posthumous on he occasion of World Theatre Day
Four great Romanian actors – Dem Radulescu, Stefan Banica, George Constantin and Dinu Manolache – were honored posthumous on the occasion of World Theatre Day, on Bucharest Walk of Fame and they got stars in Time Square. „It is a gesture through which we show that we have not forgotten and that we appreciate the great values”, said the interim mayor of Romanian capital, Răzvan Sava, at the ceremony. The personality of the great actor Dem Radulescu, Perch, as he was known by everyone, was evoked by Academician Razvan Theodorescu. Horatiu Malaele delivered a laudatio for George Constantin, while actresses Stela Popescu and Virginia Mirea spoke about Stefan Banica and Dinu Manolache. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
A public subscription will be launched to purchase Constantin Brancusi’s sculpture The Wisdom of the Earth – Dacian Ciolos
Romanian Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos said that Constantin Brancusi’s sculpture Wisdom of the Earth will not be bought if the necessary money from the citizens will not be raised. The Head of Government stated that the launch of the public subscription to purchase the work is a partnership between state and society and unless the six million euros needed will not be raised it means that the state and the people give up this masterpiece. The owners of the Wisdom of the Earth have accepted authorities’ offer, worth 11 million euros, part of the price will be paid by the Government while for the rest of the sum a public collection campaign will be launched. Culture Minister Vlad Alexandrescu announced on his Facebook page that he intends to open accounts of the Minister at Treasury and at Commercial Banks to begin fundraising. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
